This past Monday, my office “Wailea Realty Corp.” had the privilege of taking an extensive tour of this beautiful golf course and its facilities. The King Kamehameha Golf Club is located in Waikapu, in the heart of Maui. This incredible property sits on 330 acres of land situated on the slopes of the West Maui mountains with spectacular views of Haleakala and bi-coastal views of the north and south shores of Maui. The King Kamehameha Golf Club is the only private 18-hole golf course in Maui, Hawaii. The fabulous 14,000 square foot clubhouse was designed by the world famous architect, Frank Lloyd Wright. Frank Lloyd Wright is acclaimed as one of the greatest architects of the 20th century. He designed buildings that live in balance with their surroundings, taking advantage of the landscape’s best features and using nature to drive his self-described style of “organic” architecture. The central location makes it an ideal place to meet for golf, events, weddings, conferences or conventions. It offers affordable rates, excellent service and amazing venues.
The clubhouse is filled with historical Hawaiian art throughout. For example, the photo below shows the Herb Kawainui Kane painted this “Na Ali’i A Gathering of Chiefs,” a 15′ x 7′ acrylic painting on gesso-grounded wood paneling. The painting depicts a summmit meeting of chiefs of ancient Hawai’i, resplendent in ahu’ula (cloaks and capes) and mahi’ole (feathered helmets). Kamehameha wears a cloak entirely of yellow feathers (approximately 420,000), an emblem of supreme status as the king of Hawai’i Island. After your golfing, you can enjoy the award winning cuisine that its restaurants have to offer. The Kahili Restaurant is open for lunch every day with an extensive menu of salads, sandwiches, main dishes, and specials.
The King Kamehameha Golf Course was originally designed by Ted Robinson Sr. in 1991 and refreshed in 2005 by Ted Robinson, Jr. The King Kamehameha Golf Club will test each club in your arsenal. At King Kamehameha Golf course you can enjoy a pure golf experience with no surrounding homes or traffic to break your concentration. The overriding objective of good course design is a balance of these extremes, creating an effective and rewarding experience for golfers at all levels of play. If you are visiting Maui or if you live here and have never experienced these wonderful facilities, please let me know ((808) 208-0122 and I can get you in touch with the right person to make it happen!
