Cow Pig Bun, Burgers and Bourbon, a new restaurant at The Maui High Tech Park, is an urban cool new dining experience in Kihei, Maui. The owners wanted a laid-back and sophisticated urban pub, a place where industry/restaurant/hotel people could come to after hours to relax and be served and have excellent food prepared by their good friends in the business.
Unlike many other restaurants on Maui which close well before midnight, we now have a place to go to that serves delicious food and fabulous drinks. The restaurant is open till midnight.
The idea is to have a place on Maui with really good food at great prices served with the best of spirits. The atmosphere is low lit and subdued. It’s a good place to chill and enjoy your friends after a long day at work. It is also a great place to bring a date or to meet new friends at the bar.
The food is fantastic. We sampled the burger. It was one of the best burgers I have ever eaten. The meat is from California and it is some type of aged high-grade delicacy meat cooked at 155 medium to medium well. I love burgers. We tried the House which is Focaccia, Gruyere, Arugula, Garlic Aioli, and Caramelized Onions with a side of Mac N Cheese made of Caramelized Onion , Potato, Goat Cheese, Cheddar, Panko and Bacon at $8.
Other Burgers include:
- Bacon Jam
- Brioche, Blue Cheese and Bourbon Bacon Jam
- Brioche, Pepper Jack, Bourbon Pickle Veg, Chipotle Sour Cream
- Why Bother
- Focaccia, Chickpea-Mushroom Patty, Arugula, Tomato
The burgers are priced at $14 & $16. Sandwiches include the Bahn Mi. I will be trying this next. I love this sandwich and see it more and more in different variations. It is served on a Baguette, Pork Belly, Pulled Pork, Foie Gras Butter (wow), Namasu and Cilantro Mayo (does one need to say more).
There is also a BBQ Pork and Brisket sandwich priced at $12 & $16. Salads include a Tako (octopus) and House salad at $8 & $12.
Sides include Smash which is Old Bay Seasoned red Potato, CPB Chili which is White Bean, Beef, Tomato and Onion and what I will be trying the next time I go the Brussel Sprout which has Bacon, Carrots and Sweet Soy.
It is a small menu done extremely well. As for the hand-crafted libations, I tried the Last Word which is 209 Gin, Maraschino. Liqueur, Chartreuse and Lime Juice. It was smooth and oh so delicious.
Other crafted cocktails include:
- Meat Packing District
- Michters Rye, Lillet Blanc, Cocchi Vermouth di Torino and Angostura Bitters Butchertown
- Makers Mark, Pineapple/Lime, Angostura Bitters
- Blood and Sand
- JW Black, OJ, Sweet Vermouth, Cherry Liqueur
- Ocean, Vodka, St. Germaine, Prosecco, Passion Fruit, Peach Bitters
- 10 Cane Rum, Lime/Mint, Sugar, Angostura Bitters
- Don Julio Blanco, Pho Syrup, Lime Juice, Thai Basil, Ginger Juice
- There are also bottles of Sparkling, White and Red Wine available from $33-$150
- and Wines on Tap for $10-$12.
The sustainable décor was there in its prior state with Lynn Stettler’s aesthetic and now the comfortable and cozy atmosphere is enhanced by walls made from recycled wooden pallets. You almost expect a fireplace, but this is Kihei after all.
There’s also going to be additional outdoor seating on a 12 x 12 deck outside with lights overhanging with a good view overlooking Kihei and the Pacific. There’s nothing even remotely okay about this place. It’s all excellent. We loved it and will be back for more.
