Maui Re-Opening October 15, Humpback Whale First Sighting on Maui, The Shops At Wailea Update

Are you ready for Maui to re-Open on October 15th?  Many visitors are ready. However, we are anticipating a learning curve in the first few weeks so make sure you check and double check for updates and details. First let us start with this pre-Travel Flow Chart provided by

Now at first glance or reading it seems pretty simple and direct. However, upon application, there seems to be a number of confusion as mentioned in this article by

One of our realtors, Steve Nickens, RS, put together a video about the pre-travel with some nice Maui background to enjoy while learning about it:

Many Maui Businesses are starting to open as a result of Maui Re-Opening confirmation for October 15th.  Mama’s Fish House started accepting reservations on October 6th (Dining in available in November), and many hotels are doing all the necessary preparations for re-opening.

On our previous post we shared about some of the Maui restaurants that are open right now and where are the best places to dine-in.

Photographer Jason Moore (Jason Maui) just shared a photo taken approx 9:10 am 10/8/20 of what we believe to be Maui’s (and Hawaii’s) first whale sighting. Jason was aboard a Trilogy catamaran. Looks like the sighting began around 8:30 am.
His words “First whale of the season!!!”  Interestingly enough, it’s the same day as last year’s first sighting on Maui 10/8 by Makai Adventures.
