It’s high season 2015 here in Wailea already! The seasons are moving along and the clock continues ticking with big changes coming. When you drive around Wailea there are dust fences going up everywhere with new projects being laid out, homes being built and new subdivisions popping up on the market. This is going to be a big year for Wailea! Here is a review of what is currently happening in Wailea.
Keala O Wailea
Waileas newest residential condominium project developed by A&B being built by Armstrong Builders (builders of Kai Malu) is coming up just around the corner. Keala O Wailea will be marketed by Wailea REALTY Corp which has an Interest List being taken for those that want to be notified as the project moves along. The project will consist of 10 Buildings of 7 units each with 3 different floor plans. There will be 2 and 3 bedroom designs, all featuring expansive ocean views even from the ground floor units! The complex will have a large pool area and clubhouse, elevators, garages and carports. Located at the Wailea Gateway #KealaoWailea sits atop the 4th and 5th holes on the Wailea Blue Course and is walking distance from shops and restaurants. Construction is well underway on this new addition to the Shops at Wailea where our office is located. The plans are for a market area featuring fresh local produce, dining, deli and more retail space. Recent news indicated that the name will be changed to Island Gourmet Market although their sign still says Island Country Market. Expect to see this new area open by the end of the year or early next.
The new Residence Inn by Marriott has put up the dust fence and started site work in preparation for building. The development is a 200-room, 4-story hotel located on the northwest corner of Wailea Ike Drive and Wailea Ekolu Place below the Wailea Gateway. This is across the course from Keala o Wailea but will be below the sight line. The hotel will be located on a 6.37-acre land parcel and is designed with breakfast area, market, exercise room, 1,800 square feet of meeting space, resort style pool and spa, outdoor sports court, and BBQ area.
Wailea Blue Course Clubhouse has Moved
The Blue Course has moved! Not literally but the Clubhouse has. They are moving the Clubhouse back to its original location on Wailea Ike Drive above the Shops at Wailea. Currently they are expanding the existing building to add retail and office spaces in addition to the existing businesses Urgent Care Wailea, Snorkel Bob’s and #Manoli’s. Also the renowned hair designer Juvenal has moved his salon from the Fairmont Kea Lani to the clubhouse as well http://juvenalhairsalon.com . All play will begin and end from here as the original course was designed. Plenty of new parking has been added and the restaurant is open for lunch and dinner. Bring your clubs and be ready to play!
Wailea Golf Estates II
The existing subdivision Wailea Golf Estates is growing. Site work is underway and lots should be available by the end of the year. The new phase is located between the existing 10th and 18th holes of the Wailea Blue Course. This is just opposite the new clubhouse on the 10th fairway. The plans for the subdivision are for 17 parcels 16 of which are golf course frontage averaging 14,000sf of land area. The 16th lot though not on the course will be approximately ½ acre in size and should have ocean views. All of the lots in the project will be part of a land condo homeowners association which will be annexed by the Wailea Golf Estates HOA.
The Ridge at Wailea
This project consists of 9 luxury half acre building sites developed on a 6 acre parcel overlooking all of Wailea. Some of the lots have huge panoramic views out to the ocean. This is not a drive by. Makali’i at Wailea
Makali’i is a new luxury residential condominium project slated to start groundbreaking sometime this year. The initial drawings look to be modern luxury designs with lots of glass and metal finishes. Units are supposed to have garages plus a full pool and recreation complex for everyone. The location is across the street on Wailea Alanui above the Fairmont Kea Lani.
If you have driven down Old Makena Road past Makena Landing down to the end you will see this complex coming up. Construction is slated to be completed soon and you will be treated to a real special property. Makena Sunset consists of Four residences each featuring 4,164sf of luxury living area with 4 Bedroom 4.5 Baths, and super ocean views. Each home has its own pool and garage area as well. The property is located right at the end of the road next door to the Makena Golf and Tennis Resort. This is just a Frisbee toss from the pool to Makena Beach.
