- “Maui OnStage’s greatest-ever achievement” -Maui News / The Scene
- “You are going to love, love, love this show… best dancing to date” – Paul Janes Brown/ Curtain Call
- “(Chris Kepler’s) five-minute Singin in the Rain number is worth the price of admission alone” – Michael Pulliam / the Scene (Chris Kepler as Don Lockwood)
Ok, let’s back-up a little bit and start with the introduction of this show based on the announcement by Maui On Stage:
The “Greatest Movie Musical of All Time” is faithfully & lovingly adapted for the stage! Singin’ in the Rain has all the makings of a Tinseltown tabloid headline – the starlet, the leading man and a love affair that could make or break careers! In silent movies, Don Lockwood and Lina Lamont are a hot item but, behind the scenes, things aren’t always as they appear on the big screen! Meanwhile, Lina’s squeaky voice might be the end of her career in “talking pictures” without the help of a talented young actress to do the talking and singing for her. Featuring Chris Kepler, Lia De Souza, John Galvan, Laura Cole and a cast of 35 incredible singers, dancers and performers!
Among the 35 incredible singers, dancers and performers is Emma Smith, the daughter of Leslie MacKenzie-Smith R(S) . Leslie is a realtor with Wailea Realty Corp. She is a strong supporter of Arts and Culture on Maui and is a Board Member with Maui OnStage. Maui OnStage is the non-profit organization that manages the Historic Iao Theatre. Emma is here on summer vacation (she is attending college in Washington). Emma has been performing on stage since she was four and is currently pursuing a career in Arts. She is the third young lady from the right on the photo below:
One of our realtors, Lydia Pedro R(B) also attended one of the shows, enjoyed it and she highly recommends for you to go too. And if you are wondering if there really is going to be rain on stage, yes there was! (see the first photo and notice the splash!) Lydia recorded and shared a short video excerpt for us to see a snippet of this spectacular show:
